2018 PHIUS+ CERTIFICATION ACTIVITY SURPASSES 2017 TOTAL

Continued Exponential Growth of Climate-Specific, Cost-Optimized Sustainable Building Rating System

CHICAGO, Illinois—The growth of highly energy-efficient buildings certified by the Passive House Institute US (PHIUS) continues its trend of year-over-year increases. In the first four months of 2018, new certifications or applications exceeded the 2017 total, as measured by floor area.

Moisture in Buildings – Highly Relevant All Over the World

Moisture management in buildings is a trending topic, as moisture related problems not only affect old buildings, but energy efficient new ones as well. In the United States, roughly 50% of all households reported the prevalence of dampness and mold. European households discovered these same issues, reporting them in about 20% of households.

PHIUS Announces Collaboration with EMerge Alliance

PHIUS and the EMerge Alliance announced a joint effort to create an integrated active electrical power standard to further establish the existing PHIUS building standards as the best path to zero energy. The cooperation will create a single technical standards group made up of members of both organizations to develop the standard, which was formally launched on June 8, 2017.
